Chapter participates in DuPage County Engineer's Week EXPO
The Chicago Chapter participated in the 26th Annual DuPage County Engineer's Week EXPO on Saturday, February 20, 2010. The EXPO was held at the Dan and Ada Rice Campus of Illinois Institute of Technology in Wheaton, IL. 20 engineering societies were represented at the event.
Approximately 1250 - 1500 attendees braved the snow and cold to travel from as far away as Rockford and Orland Park, in addition to attendees from DuPage County.
The Chicago Chapter has been active in the planning of and participation in this event for about 20 years. This year, Tom Gray and Bert Cohn staffed the SFPE table. In addition, the Chicago Chapter donated $ 250 to help make the event a success.

Planning has already begun for next year's event, which will be held on February 26, 2011.

Chapter lunch burned to a crisp
Our February chapter meeting was canceled suddenly because a fire destroyed the restaurant just hours before our luncheon was to have started. Costa's Restaurant in Chicago's Greek Town burned to the ground early Monday morning, and commuters got the word as they were heading into town. Our secretary, Jessica Hubert-Dahl, quickly sent out an email with the news, and the chapter website announced the cancellation before 9 a.m. Costa's had been our regular meeting place for several years. A new venue for our luncheon meetings is now being sought. More info about this fire.

The chapter elected the following officers and executive committee members at
the annual chapter meeting, December 7, 2009, accepting the recommendations of
the nominating committee:

Notice for chapter members
regarding dues payments and email contact point
For all who are now receiving chapter announcements for upcoming events, please make sure that you are up-to-date on dues. Chapter members who are members of the international society pay annual dues of $25. For others who wish to be notified of upcoming events, the annual fee is $35. Invoices for 2010 dues have been mailed. If you have not paid, please pay promptly -- the membership list is purged periodically to eliminate those whose payments are not up-to-date.
If did not receive a dues statement and have not paid 2010 dues or fees but you wish to be a Chicago Chapter member and receive announcements, please contact the Membership Chairman.
If you are not receiving the email announcements but you are current on dues, please send your current email address to the Membership Chairman. Please note that most chapter material is now distributed via email.
Chicago Chapter logo shirts available
Chapter members can purchase a blue polo shirt with the SFPE logo in full color and the wording "Chicago Chapter" for $20. The men's style in sizes L to 3X is illustrated.
