Fire Plan Reviewer, City of Evanston

Responsible for code compliance review of all building plans & other submittals as it relates to the fire protection and life safety systems & their components. Schedule/coordinate fire protection acceptance tests & certificate of occupancy inspections.  Requires Fire Science, Technology, or Engineering degree or equiv education/exp. Must have either 3 yrs exp reviewing building plans for compliance with fire codes or any combination of the following: ability to read/interpret drawings (sprinkler, etc.) & blueprints; knowledge of fire codes, alarm/sprinkler systems or other fire protection systems. Job Description: The Risk Management Consultant makes on-site service and prospect calls to identify and evaluate exposures, hazards, and controls related to workers' compensation. Analyzes the business operations, management and organization of the most complex multi-location business operations and processes. Analyzes and develops loss related information, and service plans, presenting risk management reports to management with recommended corrections to physical weakness, reduce losses, and develop or strengthen management or administrative controls. Prepares recommendations to pursue or decline specific accounts. In addition, manages service territory and works with agents to foster and develop relationships and to secure new business. Develops and conducts training presentations and programs directed towards controlling losses or improving claim case management for all levels of management employees of business clients and large groups or associations.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Safety, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Safety and/or related degree.
- Over ten years related loss control/insurance experience working with client operations, preparing risk management reports and recommendations for controlling losses and/or reducing exposures and liabilities for the most complex risks.
- Extensive experience in 2 or more risk management industry specialties such as: ergonomics, industrial hygiene, construction, medical, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of underwriting claims management principles and agency relations.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards, codes, and health/safety issues.
- Certification in one or more of the following: ALCM, ARM, CSP, CPCU, CIH or related designation is desirable.
- Ability to develop in detail, internal and external reports utilizing charts, graphs, digital photos, and other insurance related software to support service direction provided to clients.

The position requires extensive travel with 4-5 days/month overnight travel and the incumbent must possess a valid Driver's license with no major violations.
